Our Beautiful Daughter

Our beautiful daughter Aisling passed away in my arms at 11:15am on Friday 23 December 2011

Aged 20, her courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis has now ended. If this has come to you as a shock please don't let it spoil your Christmas - Aisling is finally at peace and has taught us so much about true grit, tenacity, courage and determiniation. She even took control when she decided to let go and die, asking for me to hold her in my arms, remove her BiPap oxygen mask and take one last breath.

Here is a photo of Aisling with her American fiancée Chris.

Funeral arrangements will be posted on this blog

Rest is peace my darling xxx (Daddypoos)

  1. Dear Denis.
We are deeply saddened by the news of your unbearable great loss. I remember Aisling fondly as a lovely little girl that I helped to look after at playschool, and she so obviously grew into a beautiful young woman. Her short life you will always treasure. Our sincere thoughts are with you all at this awful sad time. With our love.

  4. I have been following this blog from my home in South Africa. I am friend of Sian's and saw about Aislings fight on facebook. Aisling came across as such an inspiration and it is down to her blog that a few weeks back I contacted the South African Organ donation register and signed myself up a donor. I am incredibly saddened to read of her passing and would like to send my condolences to all her friends and family. xxxx
Aisling, wherever you are now I hope that you are now pain free. You are a true inspiration. xx

  5. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. I am so sorry. I didn't know Aisling, but came across her blog whilst a friend was in Papworth. In this short time, I've been privileged to learn from an inspirational and amazingly strong woman. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. With love, Emily

  6. Aunty Heatherybun here,
I have found your special blog with a little help.
There are so many things I have in my heart of you, from the time your very special family walked in my life all those years ago.
I have watched you grow in to a lovely woman.
I was given a precious gift in you. You taught me so much… we laughed, cried, moaned together. When you needed me we would go to the pub for drinks, chats and rants.
I have this memory from when you were small, of you sitting on my knee singing along to big bird on Sesame Street whilst getting the jelly monsters up with Brenden playing with anything that would make a noise… nothing has changed there except he is much better…
There are so many things that I could say… the one thing I will say is that you had something so special that shined, even through the mask on your face that last visit when I held your hand and we watch that Christmas movie which made us cry……
Thank you for the smiles, thank you for the hugs, thank you for all you gave us.
We are all richer people who have been touched by you..
No more pain now, only the special light. Rest in peace my special angel…with all my love x
